Municipality of Agios Minas includes the municipal apartments of Thymiana and Neochori, as well as the seashore areas of Karfas, Agia Ermioni, Megas Limnionas and Agia Fotini places appropriate for comfortable and pleasant vacations. As a first step we can travel around and visit, inside the pages that follow, the two big settlements of Thymiana and Neochori, from which the first is the seat of Agios Minas. Thymiana
is an old, inland town where is produced the renowned Thymiana stone,
which was used to built and embellish the homes, mansions and churches not
only of Chios but of the neighboring islands of the Asia Minor shores
across the way. In the center of the village stands imposing the modern Byzantine
church of Agios Efstratios. Leaving Thymiana, the next village to the south is Neochori with the stone built houses at the neighborhoods and the small roads around, leading the visitor to the paving square of the village. |
