On the waterfront of Vrontados, about six kilometres outside town, on the road to Daskalopetra, is the Afanis Naftis beach. It has been named by the statue dedicated to the mariners that have been lost in the sea, which is located nearby, a statue created by the sculptor Thanasis Apartis.
The small seaside with small pebbles lies a little bit further to the north, and it is a safe choice for anyone who wouldn't want to drive too far from town for a quick swim. The Afanis Naftis beach, as well as other nearby beaches, is ideal for windsurfing when north winds blow.
