8th Half Marathon on Chios, the island of mastiha Featured
For fans of long-distance running, Chios Half Marathon is an experience not to be missed. It has been organized for the last seven years on Chios island, at the area of Kampos, an enchanting traditional settlement of unique natural beauty and impressive architecture.
The event takes place every year on the last Sunday of August. Apart from the Half Marathon race it also includes races of 10,5 km and 5 km for adults and a race of 1,5 km for children. This year the 8th Half Marathon of Chios will take place on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
The route of Chios Half Marathon crosses the historic area of Kampos, Chios, just 6 km from Chios town. The athletes get to live a unique experience, as they run across narrow streets, through the fragrant citrus gardens, which are protected by high stone walls. The route also takes them inside one of the most beautiful and well-preserved estates of the area. Participants also get to taste local products and enjoy the famous hospitality of the welcoming Chiots.
